The full form of FSSAI is the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. In 2006 FSSAI food license was settled under the Food Safety & Standards Act. What is FSSAI food license Registration?

Requirement of FSSAI food license

Other than small-scale businesses, all other food business operators have to obtain the FSSAI food license. It is classified into 2 categories: Central FSSAI License and State FSSAI License on business size, either large scale or medium scale business. Typically, food business operators are large exporters, importers, manufacturers that deal in the large-scale food business for acquiring FSSAI food license from the central government. On the other hand, food business operators that are traders, marketers, transporters, etc. that deals in small-scale or medium-scale food business for obtaining FSSAI food license from the state government. For applying for the state license, the food business operators should have an aggregate turnover of Rs. 12 Lakhs. 20 Crore. For applying for the central license, the food business operators should have an aggregate turnover of more than Rs. 20 Crores and should have operations in 2 or more states. Each exporter or importer must apply for a food license, and its minimum and maximum tenure are one year and five years, respectively.

Procedure for Acquiring FSSAI Food License

FSSAI food license is instituted with submitting application of registration (Form A) or application for state and central license (Form B) by applying on FoSCoS portal or to Food & Safety Department. The regular documents needed for Central, State, and Basic Registration are photo ID proof and passport photo.

• The application should go along with the essential documents. It should be uploaded on the FoSCoS portal or submit to Food and Safety Department when the application is filling.
• In 7 days’ time from the application receipt date, it can be accepted or rejected by the Department & rejection should be instituted to the applicant in writing.
• If the application is accepted that the department will permit a certificate of registration along with the applicant photo and registration number.
• Food Business operators must be extensively present the registration certificate at the business place during business hours.

Documents needed for acquiring the State FSSAI Food License

Different documents and forms are needed to be submitted modification, conversion, & renewal of license.

• Form B should be completed & signed.
• Planning of process unit for showing the operation-wise allocation and dimensions.
• List of Proprietors, partners, or Directors with photo ID, contact details, and address.
• Affidavit of proprietorship or partnership deed.
• License copy and NOC from the manufacturer.
• A water analysis report for confirming the portability is used.
• List of machinery and equipment and name used with installed capacity and number.
• List of manufactured food categories.
• Food safety management system certificate or plan.
• Premises possession proof.
• Certificate copy acquired under Multistate Coop Act 2002/Coop Act 1861.

• List of Proprietors, partners, or Directors with photo ID, contact details, and address.
• List of manufactured food categories.
• Form B should be completed & signed.
• Declaration form.
• Form IX
• Wherever applicable, recall the plan
• Ministry of Tourism certificate.
• Raw material source for meat, milk, etc.
• DGFT issued IE code document.
• License copy and NOC from the manufacturer.
• For 100% EOU Ministry of Commerce Certificate.
• For transportation and turnover proof supporting document.
• From local body or municipality NOC.
• Food safety management system certificate or plan.
• Affidavit of proprietorship or partnership deed.
• Possession of premises proof.
• FSSAI issued PA/NOC document.
